In 2024, the number of job postings on AcademicTransfer significantly decreased compared to 2023, after years of growth. This downward trend is expected to continue into 2025, as was also presented during the general members' meeting last November. Nevertheless, there are some positive signals to be found in the data.
AcademicTransfer primarily focuses on the recruitment of academic staff. The decrease in the number of academic job postings (-13%) is smaller than that for support staff (-20%) and job postings from non-members (higher education institutions, businesses, government; -26%). The number of applications has also declined (-6% for academic staff and -19% for support staff and non-members), but due to the decrease in job postings, each job posting received more responses on average.
Over the past year, AcademicTransfer has managed to continue attracting a sufficient number of relevant candidates globally, as evidenced by the number of job posting page views remaining almost constant, despite the decrease in job postings. 'The Netherlands as a knowledge country' remained sufficiently attractive to international scholars.
